Activity 620 – Levee Safety
Credit is provided for maintaining levees and a levee emergency response plan for areas protected by less than base flood levees. However, Louisville Metro’s levee and flood protection system currently protects the City from water levels well above the base flood for the Ohio River. This system was designed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer and is currently maintained and operated by MSD. The Louisville Flood Insurance Rate Maps currently show the area on the dry side of the levee as protected against the 100-year flood. Therefore, FEMA considers Louisville as already benefiting from the flood insurance breaks provided by this protection and does not give additional CRS points for the system.
